Professional office environment in Buenos Aires

When you need more than a guide

The guides on this site cover the standard cases pretty well. But some situations are genuinely complicated — visa rejections, business immigration, family reunification, citizenship applications, or anything where you've already hit a wall.

For those cases, you need an actual immigration lawyer, not a website. I've seen too many people waste months trying to DIY something that needed professional help from the start.

2025/2026 update: With Decreto 366/2025's expanded deportation grounds, the 2-year continuous residence requirement, and the new enforcement-focused Agencia Nacional de Migraciones, professional legal guidance is more important than ever. The rules have changed significantly and mistakes now carry heavier consequences.

When to use a lawyer vs. doing it yourself

You probably don't need a lawyer if: you're applying for a straightforward Digital Nomad or Tourist visa, your documents are in order, and you fit clearly into one of the standard categories. The guides here should be enough.

You probably do need a lawyer if: you've been rejected before, you have a complicated income situation, you're bringing family members, you're pursuing citizenship, or you're dealing with anything that involves appeals or legal proceedings. The cost of a lawyer is usually less than the cost of getting it wrong.
